Jon Jenkins Back at Deep Exile Studio with The Fantastic Mr. Helpling today. Didn't record the podcast last time.....maybe today??

Jon Jenkins It's back into the studio with David Helpling tomorrow. Trying to decide if we should record a new Deep Exile podcast or stay focused on the record. What do you think?

I apologize in advance for this lengthy and "blog-ish" two part post. If you are following me to track the progress of the new album, then you might want to skip these two.
If you have 15 minutes, here's something I've been contemplating from the "Music Is Art" file. Trey Gunn shared this amazing short film a few d...ays ago, and it made me think about how we experience different forms of art.
Music is a "time-based" art form. We experience it in real time, it starts and ends, it is constantly changing and developing as we listen, but when it's finished, it's gone - the experience is over.
What if we experienced a painting as a "time-based" art form, the same way we experience a piece music?
The film is 15 minutes long, split into two parts. Watch both parts for the full effect. Here is part 1...

Had some big breakthroughs on the new record with David Helpling today. Settled on which tracks will make the final cut and a song order that is absolutely mind blowing!
To prove we're still at it, here's a new Moments in Exile video taken today during some percussion editing....

Jon Jenkins Thank you to Syndae, the electronic music podcast originating from Dortmund Germany, for including a track from Treasure in their latest episode (#61). As Wayne would say...Danke schön!

Jon Jenkins Finish this cup of coffee, then it's out the door and back to the studio with the one and only David Helpling. The music is written & recorded...mixing starts today!

Samuel Edsall Hi Jon, got Treasure a week or so ago. Good stuff. Flow still high on my rotation list.

Jon Jenkins Wow, I am pleasantly shocked! "Treasure" and "Flow" are both included among the best CDs of the last 20 years - as chosen last month in Public Radio's ECHOES 20th Anniversary Poll by the program's listeners across the USA.
