I keep hearing people tell me about an awesome Japanese hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Daly City/Westlake and I finally got to check it out. Tani’s Kitchen really is a hole with seating of up to about 15 people at most, half the seats being counter seats. They even still have an old 15″ CRT television playing some random Japanese videos. Anyway, food there was excellent. The pork katsu was very crispy and the grilled chicken was very moist. I couldn’t get enough of the spicy mayo that came with the grilled chicken. Huge portions and average at about only $7 a dish.
Black Friday midnight shopping wasn’t so bad this year. We got to Gilroy Premium Outlets at just about midnight and there weren’t really any crazy lines to get into any store, except for Coach, which just went on forever. Lines inside the stores to pay were long, but since there was a group of us, we took turns waiting in line and shopping.
My favorite sales/the places I bought stuff at were: Converse with 25% off everything, Pac Sun with 40% off everything, and Hugo Boss with everything either an additional 25% off or 40% off, plus another 10% off everything, and Nautica with 50% off everything. I just got a small, automatic umbrella from Nautica. Everything else was clothes.
Other favorites that I didn’t take part of are: Kenneth Cole with 41% off everything, Banana Republic with 50% off everything, and Guess with 20% off everything.
I spent about $150 only and I ended up with a lot. Overall, a success.
My family didn’t have a traditional Thanksgiving meal this year. Instead, we had a traditional Chinese Thanksgiving meal, which means going out to eat at a Chinese restaurants because Chinese restaurants just don’t celebrate these holidays. We went to San Tung Chinese Restaurant, my favorite Chinese-Korean restaurant in the city, for dinner. We got just about all my favorites: seafood soup (jampong 짬뽕), pork dumplings, black bean noodles (jajangmyeon 자장면), cold noodles, stir fried string beans, and of course, their infamous dry fried chicken wings. This was exactly enough food to not leave me with a food coma and enough energy to go midnight madness outlet shopping.
