Julia Child

She was a heck of a lady. I remember being on a business trip in San Antonio, and instead of going out for the night, I watched a 3 hour television tribute to her, where famous chefs made her signature dishes and served them to her. I couldn't imagine the stress!

And to think that some people will only know her as Meryl Streep (who did a great job, but...) To be a young woman raised on meals without garlic and only salt (too much) and pepper and yet, with the aid of one book, to have been able to make my new husband a perfect "Canard Sauvage a l'Orange). She changed a world of housewives (and husbands and... See More kids) by taking the fear out of cooking. And she made it fun by showing us what taste buds were for and how rewarding a cooking success could be for them. Bon Appetit, Julia, wherever you are!

I had the privilege of meeting Julia and spending some quality time with her while she summer vacationed on Deer Isle, Maine. She was truly a wonderful lady who will be sorely missed.
