QUEST Lab: Aerogel - KQED QUEST
It looks like frozen smoke. And it’s the lightest solid material on the planet. Aerogel insulates space suits, makes tennis rackets stronger and could be used one day to clean up oil spills. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory scientist Alex Gash shows us some remarkable properties of this truly unique substance.

Thanks for being a fan of KQED. We need your votes to help show that public broadcasting is alive, strong, and YOURS. PARADE magazine is doing an online vote to poll whether your tax money should support PBS. Every year, the government has attempted to cut funding to public broadcasting - every year, our fans have overwhelmingly said, "Heck no."

Please vote now and grow the support for quality public media like KQED. Remember, $400 million is just about $1.50 a year for tax payers. That's not even 3 cents a week.

Even though I live in Indiana, I sometimes listen to talk of the nation on KQED over the internet when I'm not near a radio.

I LOVE CAR TALK!!
I have no clue what they're saying throughout the show but the end credits are SO funny.
also, i love michael krasny. he's amazing.
