We've got a morning charter and then the night charter coming up tomorrow. I was told by a friend from another company the final count for manta rays on the night dive on Friday was 16 - Hopefully that'll keep up for a while.Today was another internet battle...

It's cloudy and cool at my home today, I'm not sure how it is up in town. One of the unique things about the Big Island of Hawaii is that the weather conditions can be totally different just 10-15 miles away at any given time. Last night we did the manta dive again... lots of mantas...

Hi Steve...I did the manta dive with Kona Coast Divers about 6 years ago. We only had 1 manta show up and watching your posts it seems you always see quite a few. Has the area changed? Are you in a better spot? Time of year? I am bringing the family out the first week of April 3 - 11th and we are going to take over your boat! :-) Me, my wife, my ... Read Moresister and her husband for sure for at least 3 days. My kids (11, 11, and 10) are studying the free SSI course online before I commit to paying for Jr Certification classes and referral dive in Hawaii. Any thoughts on this plan of attack? Thanks. -Dave Gilbert

Hi Dave,

It's my perception that the manta dive has become a bit more reliable over the years. Most of the operators are doing it off the Kona airport, we'll head down to the Sheraton site if it's not happening at the airport for a few days straight. That site is usually good for a couple mantas. We had a two week stretch back in August where ... Read Morethey didn't show up at the airport site and we ended up doing trips down south 'til they showed up again. You can not guarantee them being around, but odds are good.

That's neat that SSI has a free online course. I didn't know that, I'm not affiliated with SSI at this point. I can help with the referral dives if you end up using PADI or SDI.

Wanna Dive Kona This is a good sized Banded Coral Shrimp. When we see what looks like cat whiskers coming out of a hole we know one of them is in there. Eels often approach them for a cleaning, they'll eat parasites off eels.

Being what is typically one of our slowest months of the year I had a few days off. Today we went out again and will have about 4-5 days straight booked and then see where it goes from there.Today the conditions were awesome.... flat water and great viz. We dove Eel Cove and Turtle Heaven...

Well, I've been spending the last couple of days frantically trying to get things updated to my new website URL. My webhost of nine years finally had a technician contact me and he informed my that my site was hacked by a pornographer from Turkey and they had to suspend the site...

I concur. My web results will slow down initially, but in the long run people tend not to think of hyphens and I'll be ahead of the game without them. I'd been using a computer for all of a year or two when I started the website, wasn't capable of much more than e-mail at the time.

Ah, the age old question.... I get this quite frequently and see it on message boards all the time. Which wetsuit to wear can depend on many things - water temperature, body size and type, cold tolerance, how much you are scuba diving, etc...

I've started teaching the full Open Water certification course again after stepping back from doing it for quite some time. We've been doing referral certifications, where we only do the diving end of the course, for the last couple of years...

I'm changing webhosts. A few years ago my webhosts gave me a call without notice demanding a few hundred bucks for a mandatory upgrade, I complied at the time but have found out a few things about that company since... google "gisol.com reviews" and you'll see what I mean...

Wanna Dive Kona Wanna Dive has just changed it's website URL: to http://www.wannadivekona.com

Had a problem my website hosts... turns out lots of people have problems with them... they have an "F" rating with the BBB and have even made the news. Google gisol.com to see what I'm getting away from.

Hi Tricia,

I just spent the last 3 hours changing web hosts. My long time web host just suspended me without notice late yesterday, supposedly for using too much of the server's resources. I found out about it last night. I haven't done anything to the site and I have an unlimited account that's actually using little space. I googled the ... Read Morehost (Gisol.com) and it basically appears that they are crooks, have even made the news, that try to force upgrades on unsuspecting people.

You should be able to find the site at http://www.wannadivekona.com just remove the hyphens from the old address.

So I'm checking my twitter account and I run across a tweet about "the best Beat It cover ever" and figured I'd check it out.Something about this couple's music mesmerizes me. I just had to look through several of their youtube postings. They play a variety of music...

Wanna Dive Kona November 4th... we saw our first humpback whales of winter on the way to the night manta dive (10-12 mantas showed that night). We generally don't see them much 'til well into December so it was a nice surprise.

Halloween has come and gone. Between eating like a pig for a football game, then going to a Halloween party by one of Pat's co-workers, I somehow managed to put on about 5 pounds of bloat. Too many carbs in one day...
