Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife As promised, pics of my Dark Multicolor R-736 experiments... only two weeks later! Mixed with R-108 for organics, it's AMAZING. I need to try it with R-106 too, which has similar tonality but more color stability, and tends to devitrify.

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife My order of Reichenbach Multicolor and Dark Multicolor arrived today, and I just finished playing with them... seriously, RIGHT NOW, stop what you are doing and buy some Dark Multicolor. R-736. It's amazing. Heavily reducing and then lightly un-reducing it will get you blues and purples with copper around the edges. ZOMG. I haven't been this excited about a glass color since R-108.

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife It took me until today to realize that, since I'm clear-capping my glass paintings, I actually have THREE layers of paintable surface! Dude. I can't wait for my new enamels to show up now!

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife Come see me tonight at the Good Gallery's "Look At Me" opening; self-portraits by a bunch of talented artists! http://goodpdx.com/

we like stuff that's good. good art. good times. we think you can have both. showing art shouldn't be hard. buying art should be fun. good stuff.

Here are links to my first attempts at vitreous painting using Reichenbach powders: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2638/3795 734481_f22f9218c0.jpg

I kind of like the weird rustic patchiness, but that didn't stop me from ordering some proper enamels! Next efforts should be much better. These are clear-capped and full-fused.

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife As far as I can tell after scouring suppliers, no one makes a veiled teal cane! I experimented with pulling my own, but so far they're coming out more sea blue than teal. Also, I checked furnace color lines for transparent and/or opaque teal frit, and it was a no-go. Bullseye makes a really good teal opaque, but I really need transparent for the veiled cane. D'oh!

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife I have become completely obsessed with glass painting. I've done a couple of plates just using Reichenbach powders and gum arabic, but I think I need the Reusche tracing paint and some Ferro colors.

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife I'm just kidding about the men.

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife I am totally having a love affair with the handmade artisan community. I don't even need men anymore, unless they make cool stuff with their hands. The way the artisan community has come together and established a new wave of the handmade movement is real

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife I'm on some kind of dot binge. I just looked at all the beads I've made lately and they're all dot beads!

Kalera Stratton - The Beadwife It's so hot I still haven't shipped anything today because as soon as I think I'm going to, a bead of sweat trickles down my back and my brain goes empty.

So, crazy storytime... there's this woman (a beadmaker and baker) harassing beadmakers and bakers; this time she's targeted a friend of mine, and my friend posted about it on her blog: http://lydiamuell.wordpress.com/2009/07/ 24/my-business-is-being-investigated/#co mment-571
