Dear Fans of Kamerun4AfrikaClub,
A few weeks ago we informed u about the joint efforts of Amnesty International and the Kamerun4AfrikaClub e.V. Our twin associations are trying to combat poverty and stop human rights abuses by making education accessible to the poorest of the poor. This is under the "Demand Dignity" cam...paign of Amnesty International.
The honorary consul to Cameroon, His Excellency Dr.-Ing. Hans Walter will be attending. A score of professors from the faculty of biomedical sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen will give more flare to the event as well as a battery of some administrative officials from the city of Essen. The occasion has been published in the "Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, WAZ" and in a host of other local papers. Members of the press corps will be present in real time to cover the event.
Our ideal is based on the fact that, education is not only a right but a remedy. It is a path out of poverty. It protects from disease and it is a life-saver. For many of us – u inclusive – education has been our shield, our sword and our olive branch. Knowing the importance of this, it is only in our power to give it back to those who don't have access to it.
In the light of this, our foundation is involved in the development of human capital. We endeavour to reach people not only through their hearts but their minds. Making them to have a wider horizon! And I think we can only achieve this through education.
Our Prayer: Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labours rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when the poor and the oppressed will not be asked to get in back, when the handicap and the underprivileged can stick around, when the disadvantaged will be mellow, when the voiceless can get ahead, and when all will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen!

We seize this opportunity to inform you about the joint effort between Amnesty International Germany – regional group “Amnesty Essen-Mitte” and the charity association Kamerun4AfrikaClub e.V. Both institutions will be running an event titled "Ka...merun-Abend" within the auspices of the Amnesty International Demand Dig...nity world wide Campaign. The campaign is the largest ever launched by amnesty international since its inception. It is about the fact that those who are poor and live in abject conditions always suffer from human rights abuses. Kamerun4AfrikaClub e.V. on its part is making education available to the poorest of the poor and thereby going a long way to curb these abuses. Because when you are educated you are aware of your rights and you are able to find access to information.
It is going to be a mammoth event since the local and national press will be available to cover the occasion. Measures to bring foreign press are on the way. The event will start with an action on the campus of the University of Duisburg-Essen during the day and it will be crowned with a keynote talk from both institutions.
We understand it still that the road to make poverty become history will not be easy. We know it well that none of us acting alone can achieve success. We must therefore act together as a united people, for the birth of a new world. So please spread the word and if you have chance or know somebody who is around the Ruhr area to encourage him/her to take some time off and come for the event and support us in our endeavour.
