WordAction Adult Curriculum Group We give you thanks, most gracious God, for the beauty of
earth and sky and sea; for the richness of mountains, plains,
and rivers; for the songs of birds and the loveliness of flowers.
We praise you for these good gifts, and pray that we may
safeguard them for our posterity. Grant that we may continue
to grow in our gratefu...l enjoyment of your abundant creation,
to the honor and glory of your Name, now and for ever. Amen. --Book of Common Prayer

Actually, Mary Jane James was the director of the choir. If I'm remembering right, they were not only asked to sing at K-Mart but also at Denny's and several other restaurants on their trip.

WordAction Adult Curriculum Group Okay, everyone, we've been quiet this month because we've all been finishing up deadlines, but you've been quiet too! What's everyone doing this month? How are the holidays (Thanksgiving here in the US, and Advent/Christmas everywhere) affecting your preparation time for your groups? Is there anything we can do to help?

Can I take the lack of responses to mean that most of us had them sneak up on us? :) We've been trying to fit in planning for 2011-12. It's not easy at this time of year. But somehow, it'll happen! --Judi

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life-in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not...

Thanks - I sometimes forget that as I hold out the Word of life it will attract a lot of "things" that will not be all that pleasant...but it is for Christ & I need to remember that I do not labor for nothing!

Jack B. Smithwick Sr.

Jack B. Smithwick Sr. I am having little difficulty with the methology. It may have something to do with my Pastoral history. My difficulty is trying to get as much of the lesson as I can in what is to me such a short amount of time. I believe that my class leaves with a strong sense of Jesus our LOrd as one who cares deeply and is involve...d in every part of their lives, not only as our great High Priest but also a personal friend who walks with them every day.

Jack, Thank you for your thorough approach. The outcome you describe is exactly what we are hoping will happen. I usually pray, "Show me the one thing my class most needs to hear today." I try to describe that in a single sentence and build my session around it. Sometimes it is the same as the Session Truth, other times it is not, That works out much better for me than trying to "cover the material." Blessings, Duane

Thanks, Jack! How are you finding the methodology this quarter? Some of the others have mentioned that application is more difficult with Hebrews due to the theological nature of this book. What does your group take away from this study each week?

I'm glad to hear it! I just heard back from our folks that all standing orders have shipped out. Independent orders are mailed out within 2 days of being received. Canadian orders are the one exception: standing orders were shipped on the 27th to Winnipeg; from there, they are mailed out via the Canadian postal system.
