Australian singing sensation Kate DeAraugo was born the oldest of three children in Bendigo Victoria. Coming from a strong musical Family of singers, the former swimming teacher had always nurtured her love for music, and from a young age expressed her passion through many performances in theatre productions, musicals and countless appearances on the local music scene.
At the tender age of 14, DeAraugo was honored to be asked to perform the Australian National Anthem at the Prime Ministers Sportsman of the Year Awards at The Crown Paladium in Melbourne.

DeAraugo first emerged into the mainstream music industry in 2005 when she successfully auditioned for Network Ten’s “Australian Idol.” Following her first two unsuccessful auditions, DeAraugo had travelled from Bendigo, Victoria to the Gold Coast, Queensland for singing lessons with legendary singer Venetta Fields, finally moving to Queensland where she auditioned for the third season. It was here that Australian public first fell in love with the magic that is Kate DeAraugo.

Throughout her Idol journey DeAraugo built up a strong following of loyal fans. During the competition she performed hits from Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Elvis Presley. "The Impossible Dream" secured her position in the grand final alongside Emily Williams.

DeAraugo went on to win Australian idol, and quickly released her debut album "A Place I've Never Been" which reached gold status in mid December of that year. The first single off that album, "Maybe Tonight" held strong at the number one position for two weeks. DeAraugo then wasted no time in releasing the second smash hit single “Faded,” written by The Veronicas.“Faded’ quickly solidified DeAraugo as musical force to be reckoned with.

In early 2006 DeAraugo was joined by fellow Idols Season 1 finalist Paulini Curuenavuli, Season 2 finalist Rikki-Lee Coulter and Season 3 runner up Emily Williams to form the group “The Young Divas”.
The Young Diva’s enjoyed much success with the release of their debut single “This time I know it’s for real.” The release proved extremely successful and remained in the Top 100 for over 8 months. After the release of the first single, the girls embarked on the “Young Divas Live” tour. The tour was initially scheduled for a two week period, however, the tour was so successful that extra dates were quickly added to accommodate the strong demand and it ended up running for three months.
The group continued to release 2 successful studio albums which included the smash hit singles “happening all over again,” “searching and “turn me loose.”

2009: DeAraugo, who has always had a passion for supporting Australian charities, was recently appointed an official “Lifeline Australia” advocate. As well as her many charity and corporate appearances DeAraugo recently hit the Australian club scene in a big way, reconnecting with her many fans across the country.

2009 welcomes a new era for DeAraugo. With award winning singles and albums under her belt, DeAraugo is now focusing on her solo career. One thing is certain, Kate DeAraugo is one artist that is here to stay!
