Keith Cornella and Broken City
Broken City played a show tonight where the stakes were $500 cash, a gig at the House of Blues in Boston, and major radio airplay on WFNX. We were playing against one other band, who had roughly the same amount of people come out to the show. Though people not associated with either band thought us to be the better g...roup, the band with the most text votes wins. There are no extra charges for texting, just whatever your standard rate you normally pay is. You can vote as many times as you want. Would you text "city" to 22122 before 10 am today to help us win? We really could use your help.
Much love,
Keith, Jeff, Matt, Richard
Hey all, could you lend us a hand?

Keith Cornella and Broken City
Hey all,
Just wanted to let you know about a few things we're up to lately, starting with our gig at Oliver's on Wednesday.
Oliver's Gig on Wednesday:
We're playing this Wednesday, May 27, at Oliver's (Cask 'N' Flagon) next to Fenway Park. The Sox have an away game that day so parking should be a breeze! We go on stage ...at 10 pm, and this is a competitive gig. We're going head-to-head against a band called the Pawnshop Diamonds (www.myspace.com/pawnshopdiamonds), they are very Rolling Stones-y. The winner, determined by audience vote, goes on to play for an opening slot at House of Blues, airplay on the FNX morning show, and $500 cash. Very valuable prizes for any band, and we'd like to win. If you're free on Wednesday, we could really use your support.
Where: Oliver's at the Cask 'N' Flagon (corner of Landsdowne St and Brookline Ave) across from Fenway Park (no game, easy parking!)
When: Wednesday, May 27 at 10 PM (Pawnshop Diamonds at 9 pm)
Solo Acoustic Gig on Saturday:
I am performing a solo acoustic gig on Saturday, May 30 at the new SoundBites Cafe and Grill in Somerville. They doubled their retail space, and now have a bar and dinner service. Saturday marks the inaugural of their live music series, Live at Soundbites! I got asked asked to do this gig by my friend Jared, from the Heartsleeves. It was a serendipitous offer, as I am preparing to do a live radio on-air performance next month. This will be my first solo acoustic gig ever in my life -- maybe you'd like to hear these songs in a more intimate setting, maybe you'd like to support my first foray into the world of troubadours and minstrels, or maybe you'd like to see me crash and burn, and enjoy a nice schadenfreude moment at my expense. Whatever your reason for attending, it'd be nice to see some familiar faces. I play at 8:30 pm, followed by Kid Colossal and The Heartsleeves.
Kid Colossal (www.kidcolossal.com)
Kid Colossal is a Soul/Pop band from the Boston area. Formed in 2007, the group bridges the gap between the classic era of soul and the present day emphasis on evocative songwriting and melodic pop. Their music brings to mind the vintage sounds of artists like Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock but offers a fresh twist to make for an overall sound that feels at once familiar and innovative.
The HeartSleeves (www.theheartsleeves.com) are back with their Neo Eclectic, Soul Reflected, Sounds from Real Life!
Born in the glory and pageant of the noble working cities of Boise, Cleveland, Schenectady, Boston and Syracuse, "The Heartsleeves" is the voice of the no frills sincerity of real world American life. We listened to, and grew on the nourishment of Nina Simone, Johnny Cash, Curtis Mayfield, Jackson Five and The Impressions.
Where: SoundBites Cafe and Grill (www.soundbitesrestaurant.com), 704 Broadway in Ball Square, Somerville.
When: Saturday, May 30 at 8:30 pm
Live Radio Performance and Interview:
The live radio on-air interview and performance I mentioned will be on June 10 at 2 pm. If you're not anywhere near Auburn, Alabama, you can listen to a live stream on the interwebs at wildmansteve.com
Where: Auburn, AL, or online at: www.wildmansteve.com
When: June 10 at 2 pm
Audio MP3 Interview:
We also did an audio mp3 interview last week that is available at: http://all4themusic.com/?tag=keith-corne lla-and-broken-city
I talk about how milk is an inspiration for these songs, and some less obtuse considerations on our philosophy.
KCBC CD Reviews:
We also got some nice reviews recently from AmericanaUK and Awaken Music:

Keith Cornella and Broken City
Hey friends,
Just wanted to let you know about a show we're playing this weekend, and tell you about some new content on our website. We're performing on Sunday, April 5th at O'Briens in Allston. The show starts at 9:00 PM, costs $7 and is 21+. We might even play a new number, drop something and extend a couple other th...ings. All in all, I'd say we're tweaking the set to be 30% more evil this Sunday. We hope you enjoy it.
We're adding media content to the website with every show, and hope to be doing and adding more cool things to the site more often. We've posted new live performance videos from our shows at Great Scott, TT the Bears, and the Cantab Lounge. If you're interested in seeing what the band is like live, each show is a pretty good representation of where we were at that particular evening.
