Ken Mann Whatcom 4 VACANCIES on Whatcom County Planning Commission. This is a great way to get involved in local land-use issues in Whatcom County. We have 2 vacancies in District 3 and 1 in District 1. Once my election is certified and the Council accepts my PC resignation, we will have the fourth vacancy - District 2. The ONE PAGE applications are due November 20th. Do it!

Ken Mann Whatcom Uh-oh. This is not good... Where is the dislike button when we need it?

Hey, the dislike button works on my machine!

Yes, we need to find a workable solution that executive and council can agree upon - a veto would be a failure and a huge set-back, as well as keeping Whatcom county out of compliance with the law.

Ken Mann Whatcom Here is an early indication of how the "new" council may shift priorities away from Lake Whatcom Reservoir protection...

A majority of the new council either will have previously voted against the transfer or expressed opposition or skepticism to it.

I think that something can be less important than people and still be worth preserving. There you go, Ken. Simple as that. Preserve the ecosystem AND respect property rights. Let's assume it's possible. Thanks for the discussion, everyone.

Tim,

Therein lies the challenge. I do believe they are both achievable with a common sense approach. However, powerful corporate and global interests seek to undermine both.

Andreas - thanks for coming to my defense, but I do know that Sam was being facetious. You are right, though, there have been many inappropriate comments and accusations on various blogs. Sam is a good reporter and gets the benefit of the doubt... for now!
