Daytrip Society It's both sad and a relief at the same time to have the summer come to an end. I can't believe Gretchen has gone back to college and Lucy is about to go! We will miss them both so much. Tears!

Daytrip Society Springtime has finally hit Maine! At least we think it has. We are ignoring the weather forecast of snow tonight and dreaming of chocolate bunnies and colored eggs. Check out these amazing eggs Karen crafted!

Daytrip Society Please bring on the sun! Fashion designers new what they were doing picking this color scheme for Spring/Summer this year! Move over snow banks...here we come!

Happy end of January from Daytrip Society! Another beautiful day of snow fall that leaves us wondering how long until the first bulbs start blooming.
We have started selling Vintage Maine and Nature related books at Daytrip Society. We couldn't resist posting the Elisabeth Ogilvie book covers on facebook for Valent...ines. She was drawn to Maine when she summered there as a child and then spent her adult life living on a remote island and writing about the beautiful rocky coast and it's salty lobsterman. She says of the island in which she grew up; "to me, this little island, so far outside the others, and its life which I have lived both summer and winter, are an important though scarcely known part of the American scene. If I ever I stop writing, I shall retire here and raise goasts, sew, cook, sketch and read to my hearts content". That is exactly what she did but she kept writing as well. Cheers to Elisabeth Ogilvie and Maine winters!Read More

Her books show her love for the exquisite beauty of the rocky maine cost and the salty l...ives of the rugged lobstermen. She lived on a 33-acre farm on Gay's Island Maine for more than 50 years until her passing in 2006.
