Kenya Diaspora Investment Conference
Kenya to showcase at Boston forum
NAIROBI, Kenya, May 21 - Local
investment companies stand to benefit from an investment conference to
be held in Boston, Massachusetts between September 23 and 26.
...
The third
wave of the Kenya Diaspora Investment Conference is organised by Boston
Media Group and the African American Lifestyle Magazine in partnership
with Supersport.
Themed tap into wealth, this year’s conference hopes to link investors
with Kenyans living in the Diaspora that are interested in investment
opportunities. Participants will have an opportunity to increase their
brand visibility to a wider target audience in the Diaspora as well as
establish long term business links.
Speaking during a stakeholder’s cocktail, event organiser Peter Wairegi
who is also the CEO of the African American lifestyle magazine said that
Kenyans living in the Diaspora were not exposed to a wealth of
information on the local investment opportunities in the country.
“There is already huge potential in Kenya and most Kenyans living in the
Diaspora that are willing to tap into the opportunities available in
the country,” said Mr Wairegi.
An estimated 10,000 Kenyans from across the USA, Canada and South
America will converge in Boston to exchange ideas on how they can
participate in building Kenya through investments.
He said that this years’ conference will take local investment
opportunities to those living in the Diaspora. “By exposing Kenyans
living in the Diaspora to more investment opportunities, we hope to
encourage more interest in the country,” he said.
Alongside the conference, an exhibition will take place to showcase
various investment opportunities in Kenya.
These will range from real
estate, financial services industry, tourism, infrastructure, energy as
well as the flagship projects under Vision 2030.
In addition, it will be a unique opportunity for Kenyans in the Diaspora
to interact and transact with various service providers from Kenya
including banks, insurance companies, money transfer services, aviation,
real estate developers, educational institutions, telecommunication
companies among many other sectors.
There also will be a Kenyan Diaspora
Golf Tournament on 26th September at Cyprian Keys, Boston, to mark the
end of the event which will run on Super Sport channel thereafter.
Last year, the investment conference was held in Kennesaw State
University in Atlanta Georgia.
The event saw over 7,000 participants
attend the conference. The companies that featured during the event
included: Safaricom, Kenyatta University, Strathmore University,
Ministry of Information, Ministry of Finance, among others.
