Keyboard Magazine January issue on sale now, with a cover story on piano- and synth-playing sorceress Hiromi Uehara!

www.keyboardmag.com
From its very first moments — a machine-gun volley of perfectly-timed notes, frenetically joyous and angular — you can tell that Hiromi’s Place To Be is anything but another sleepy, contemplative solo piano album. ...

Keyboard Magazine Happy New Year fellow Keyboarders! Fresh from the first issue of 2010, here's our review of the Yamaha S70XS, Yammie's new gig-focused 'board with a feature that musicians on our forums have been requesting: 76 fully-weighted keys.

Great sounds including stellar new S6 piano. Super-easy to create splits and layers on the fly. Expanded control surface functionality for DAWs.

Keyboard Magazine New remixing tutorial up. Re-pitch a vocal to fit your mix, AND keep the original artist and record label happy! Sound like voodoo? It is - but you can do it!

keyboardmag.com
Remixing can be much more complicated than creating an original track, as counter-intuitive as that seems. With a remix, you have to stay true to the song while leaving your thumbprint. You have to please the label, the artist, the dance floor, and if all goes well, yourself.

Keyboard Magazine Scott Healy, keyboardist on The Tonight Show, shows how to play rock 'n' roll piano glissandi (sweeps up and down the keys a la Jerry Lee Lewis) in this video lesson.

keyboardmag.com
It’s part comedy and part drama. Early rockers, Broadway rehearsal pianists, and Jersey rockers alike have used and abused the piano glissando. It’s dramatic, cool, and aggressive, but it’s also a tad clichéd — which could be bad, unless that’s what you’re going for!

Keyboard Magazine Wow, we've been working on this project for a long time. Sixteen videos total, featuring four amazing players evaluating the AvantGrand, Yamaha's five-figure, flagship, next-level digital piano. We booked out the Village in L.A., brought in both AvantGrand models, shot in HD, and generally pulled out all the stops. If ...you're even mildly curious about the state of the art in reproducing the sound of a concert grand, don't miss these!
