It all started in 1982. I was writing for a local zine called Concentration X and they mangled my writing. So I thought, OK, let me try something on my own. Over the course of a few nights in the late summer, I typed up four pages of live and record reviews, slapped the name Suburban Punk across the top page and gave t...he pages to my dad to run off at work on the xerox machine. He made me 50 copies and I took 'em a to a few shows and sold 'em for a quarter apiece. The start of a publishing empire? I don't know but, since that time, I've published another 44 issues (Issue 33-34 was one issue). The zine's name changed to Suburban Voice starting with issue #11. The last print issue was in 2003 and, while I still want to do at least one more, SV has been operating as a blog in recent years. Check it out at http://subvox.blogspot.com If you've never seen the 'zine, I write about punk, hardcore, post-punk (a catch-all term, I suppose) and garage from all eras... occasionally some metal or classic rock.. whatever I want to write about. If you look at the blog, you'll probably get a good idea of the kind of music that gets covered. Records/CD's/demos etc. are always welcome for review... I don't review MP3s nor advance-type packages--what I mean is send the actual release with artwork/inserts, etc... Politically Incorrect? This is for you. Outspoken and don't give a shit what other people think of your views? This is for you. Hate your job or your boss or both? This is for you. Pissed off at government and politics? This is for you! This company was created in 2007. But for as far back as I can remember I always went against the grain. In my experiences it seems that a majority of people, from all walks of life, for the most part, either don't care, are too ignorant or are just too consumed by nonsense to realize what's going on! Whether it's the media, politics, religion, or the extremist ideology of being politically correct. All of the aforementioned issues tend to raise a lot of questions derived from being a skeptical person. Some may call it argumentative. I call it digging through the bullsh*t and refusing to accept the most popular or politically correct answer. People have grown to be way too sensitive. I feel that if you're not frustrated, then you have no clue as to what's going on around you. From war, to feeding foreign countries before taking care of our own first. From working day in and day out, sometimes two jobs only to struggle and barely scrape by while falling deeper into debt, to bird-brain celebrities getting more news coverage than the men and women fighting and dying overseas in a war that we're in based on lies. I could rant on and on about September 11th 2001, border and airport security, the TSA, The Patriot Act, healthcare, cell phones, "reality TV", fashion trends that are taken way too seriously and the robotic population that simply accepts things for what the media tells them they are and who are either too lazy or don't have the spine to ever question authority... Wake up people!!!
