Kim the Couturiere Awaiting two clients for party dress fittings, then starting two new dresses today. Love the holiday party season!

Kim the Couturiere I predicted the winner, but in the end I rooted for the other. Oh well! Congrats! #projectrunway

Kim the Couturiere Rooting for Carol Hannah. Irina's collection was too dark, although beautifully constructed. Althea's I didn't like at all.

Kim the Couturiere Colors my clients are requesting for holiday dresses: red, emerald green, plum, periwinkle, violet, navy... Bye-bye, LBD!

Kim the Couturiere The holiday party season is nigh - time to think about party dresses! Making some for clients this week.

Angie Head You are very talented, Kim! I am so proud to know you!

Kim the Couturiere Michaela. The fabric reminded me of a Michael Kors dress I adore. So I made this one, with some changes. (The drama of the Kors dress was in the front, with the intricate pleating. On mine, the drama is at the top with the high collar.) I still named in Michaela, as a tribute to Kors, one of my favorite designers.

Kim the Couturiere Carla. I love Michelle Obama’s style, but I’m also a big fan of French first lady Carla Bruni. This one was inspired for her. I used a conservative wool, but mixed in hints of fun and femininity with the rosette and shimmering red lining. It would look great with heels or a pair of Carla’s trademark flats. You may see me in this tomorrow – I’m wearing it to work!

A couple years ago my boyfriend’s mother gave me a wrap skirt from India. It was beautiful, but it was too long and the proportions weren’t really right, so I couldn’t wear it. So I recently make it into a sheath dress – with a big Carrie Bradshaw-style floret – instead. I’ve converted other clothing items into something new for a few clients as well. Beautiful fabric should never go to waste!

Kim the Couturiere Autumn. Another cousin of the Vintage. Inspired by fall fruits vegetables like squash and star fruit, so I mimicked them a bit with the seam overstitching. As you’ve probably guessed by now, I’m a fan of silk dupioni. The gold tone works well.

Kim the Couturiere Sewing while getting ready for Part 1 of the Project Runway finale. Excited to see the collections, esp Irina's...

Rosa Ramirez-Lopez Beautiful!!

Kim the Couturiere Alex. For a client. These photos don’t do it justice. She looks absolutely stunning in this silk dupioni aqua swing skirt, that is a cousin of the Vintage. Perfect party skirt.
