Malaysian Giant Telecom Company sold Indonesian Hit Song without Permission from the Rightful Owner

Maxis Communication Bhd., one of the biggest telecommunication provider in Malaysia, has been found to illegally sell an Indonesian hit song called "Bukan Cinta Biasa(BCB)" by Afgan. Maxis sold the song in the format of Ring Back Tone (RBT... Read More), short version song and even the full version song. All songs were available for download from Maxis's official website without permission from PT.Wanna B Music Production(WNB) who is solely owned the copyrights and distribution of the song.
WNB President Director H. Naldy Nazar stated that there was no written agreement between WNB, Maxis or any other third party. This is a direct violation under the regulation of Copyrights act 1987 by Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO). "

The song BCB is popularized by a young singer Afgan Syahreza and taken from a recent hit box office movie in Indonesia that goes with the same title. Afgan is now holding a crown as the best male solo singer and has won numerous awards in Indonesia. Recently he is also named for 6 nominations for Anugerah Planet Muzik. The movie itself has lots of positive feedback from the people including Indonesian government officials and religious leaders.
