KunK Just been listening to the rough mixes from yesterday, they sound rather good!

KunK Awesome day in the studio! We now have four songs finished. We're back in on Wednesday to record bass and drum tracks for the remaining four songs.

KunK Off to Leeders Farm again today to do some more work on the album. Plan is record some more guitars and then start recording some vocals.

POPE JOAN
Pope Joan are a 4-piece leftfield pop band from Brighton, England.
Ambient walls of processed guitar noise, furious drum lines and quirky 8-bit synth keyboards are all underpinned by an incredibly demanding pop sensibility.
Since the release of their critically acclaimed and hectically demanding debut mini-album... Hot Water, Lines and Rickety Machines (via OIB Records) at the end of last year, the band have been busy writing and honing new material – their new AA side single Centurions // Volumes is the first taster of what’s in store. Now forging forward with a richer and more refined sound, the new material distils their trademark core of bold pop hooks through a more urgent, expansive and compellingly epic sound of skewed synths and shimmering guitars.
Having played shows with a wide range of bands including - Danananankroyd, The Fall, The Invisible (recent Mercury prize nominees), Maps and Atlases, Calories, The Northwestern (new band from Hope of the States), Turbowolf and Bearsuit - Pope Joan have made a name for themselves for their fast and euphoric performances, going from strength to strength to become one of the most innovative and exciting bands from Brighton’s already thriving music scene.
Falling somewhere between the kinetic playfulness of Les Savy Fav, quirky pop of early-era XTC and the sonic spectrum of TV on the Radio, Pope Joan are a band that demand serious attention and are set to establish themselves as part of the new wave of exciting and experimental British art-pop.
Wondrous support comes from
KUNK
Having been compared to whatever noise it is that angry dinosaurs make, Norwich Alt-Rock band KunK make sounds that have been known to stop wild boar in their quest for flesh. Creating a sound that is "somewhere between the demented growl of Mclusky & the early Britrock might of 3 Colours Red" (Subba-Cultcha.com), KunK put on an energetic live show that excites, tantalises and scares the crowd in equal measure. They have also shared the stage with the likes of The Subways, The Airborne Toxic Event, Nine Black Alps and Baddies were hand picked by XFM's John Kennedy to play at the City Showcase Festival in London.
Two years after a much needed line-up change, KunK released their debut single “We’re Not Who You Think We Are” in May 2008. The single quickly picked up play on Kerrang! Radio, BBC Radio 1, Resonance FM and XFM, with influential DJ John Kennedy calling it “one of the finest releases of the year!”. Major US Radio airplay followed, and this resulted in some of the bands tracks being used in MTV shows, The Real World, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and Bad Girls Club.
KunK recently headed back into the studio, determined to capture their raw edge and live energy on record. The result, a double A-side single ‘No Way/Game Over’ is available now with a full album to follow in 2010.
Plus the NO FICTION residents with cuts from the likes of MAGAZINE, ERRORS, ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, DFA1979, THE XX, WILD BEASTS, THE DEAD WEATHER (et al) on the decks.
See you down for dancing.
