LA84 Foundation SCSSA skaters JR Celski & Jordan Malone will be 2 of 5 men representing the US in short track speedskating at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. For Celski, the Olympic Trials ended in alarming fashion. He fell and gashed his leg in the 500-meter semi. Celski underwent surgery in Marquette. Mich. LA84 Foundation Maria Garcia's Olympic Trials Diary Day 2: I should have finished better than 12th, but I was nervous and felt weak in the 9 lap Trial. In the 4 lap Trial I felt better and finished 5th, not my best but it was Respectable. I've never been that great at Time Trials, my strength has always been racing. LA84 Foundation Maria Garcia' Diary Olympic Trials 2009 Day 1 Time Trials are this afternoon. The ice has been getting faster every day this past week. Yesterday Wilma timed my laps at 9.1 and 9.2, I'm feeling good! I just went on a run with Rusty, to loosen up. I'm trying to stay totally focused and take one day at a time. LA84 Foundation The LA84 Foundation, since 1989, has supported the Southern California Speed Skating Association through a series of grants. At the 2010 U.S. Olympic Trials / Short Track Speedskating, September 8 -12 in Marquette, Mich., one in every four competitors will be a current or former SCSSA skater. more

LA84 Foundation The 14 athletes SCSSA athletes and alumni who will compete for places on the Olympic team are Edie Alverez, JR Celski, Zach Fuller, Maria Garcia, Lezleigh Jaworski, Tina Koenig, Ryan Cox Leveille, Joey Lindsey, Jordan Malone, Walter Rusk, Jonny Sermeno, Jeff Simon, Kristen Todd and Kyle Uyehara.

LA84 Foundation Maria Garcia, a 2006 Olympian, will be in Marquette, Mich. next week attempting to make the 2010 Olympic Team. Throughout the week Maria will send updates to this page about her experiences at the Trials.
