La Cuadra Magazine The Secular Extremists of La Cuadra are doing our best to take part this month in the War on Christmas, 2009 by bringing y'all some of our particular brew of holiday cheer. Today we updated the website with a new story from Mike Tallon about a gift he and a friend were given while humping tent and peg between hitchhiki...ng trips in Alaska a number of years ago. It might be a bit too sweet for some of you, so have a gin with a dash of bitters ready to wash it all down.
We'll be putting up more holiday stories over the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
Also, for those of you in Guatemala this month, you've got to swing by Panza Verde to see the Julio Zadik photography exhibition in the Sol del Rio Gallery. Amazing stuff - check some of it out on our website.

La Cuadra Magazine Hey Y'all... fell a bit behind the curve of updating the site due to the rush to finish our our Christmas issue... lo siento... So, I've just finished adding the final articles from our previous issue to the website. Also, a short while ago someone of you out there reposted Kevin's tragi-terrible story about accidently... sleeping with a post-op transexual in Thailand to www.reddit.com. Go bless whom ever you were. You spiked our visitors by an embarassingly large multiple. Keep it up! Also, stay tuned for this week and next for more updates from the Christmas issue. Drunky Holidays to all.

La Cuadra Magazine Tonight the House of Representatives is debating passage of a Health Care Bill. It seemed the right time to post a primer on the general health care debate written by James R. Tallon, Jr. Jim has spent the better part of the past three decades in the trenches of this debate and he writes clearly and concisely on the su...bject.
Also included in this update is another round of W.T.F? penned by Jim's son, Mike, who has spent the better part of the past four decades wasting his talent thinking about crap like this.
Enjoy!

La Cuadra Magazine I'd say Happy Halloween, but I'm figuring most of you are already committed to the drinky section of your night. So, instead, Happy Day of the Dead! And to commemorate this day, we're reposting a story Michael Tallon wrote back in the fall of 2008. It starts with the cemetery losing his grandfather's body and ends with... him flying a kite. Check it out, we'd argue it's worth the read!

La Cuadra Magazine We just posted a few new stories to the website at www.lacuadraonline.com. The first one is a story about the Featured Artists of this month, La Tortilla - The Antigua All Stars, an amazing collective of local musicians who have come together to put out a CD and a few festival shows around town. Also up is a new, deepl...y disturbing and utterly hilarious story about one terrible night in Bangkok by our own Kevin Petrie.
Drop on by and let us know what you think. Also, please leave some comments, link shit to your friends and spread the word like it's swine flu.
Love,

La Cuadra Magazine

La Cuadra Magazine We're on the streets with Volume III, Issue 6 of La Cuadra. And as such, we'll be updating the website over the coming weeks with all the new material as we push to get out a special December Christmas issue. Right now on the site you can read Miles Afuera's latest entry, Rememberance of Sleaze Past and Michael Tallon'...s take on the recent coup in Honduras. Coming soon will be another great piece by Joe Bageant and Kevin Petrie's most disturbing story to date. Make sure you have soap in your apartment before you read it. You'll want to shower immediately after you stop laughing.
All that soon, but for now - enjoy the Sleaze of Old 42nd Street and the current madness in Tegucigalpa and why it's important to Central America and the world.
Cheers,
I'm off to make myself a drink.

La Cuadra Magazine Geet, our web designer, has been working his ass off for the past few days, drinking nothing but Ilegal Mezcal and black coffee, figuring out why the website was loading slowly. With in minutes of his attempt to explain the technical side to me, my eyes had glazed over and I'd begun to drool on myself.

Suffice it to s...ay, I don't know how, but he's done it. The site is flying now.
