On Tuesday, July 7, employees from AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company led a Day of Service as part of the company’s commitment to the Financial Services Roundtable’s 2009 Community Service project. They were joined by volunteers from the Office of Surface Mining/VISTA and staff from the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Aut...hority (LHVA) to clean-up the Broadway trailhead of the Central New Jersey Rail-Trail section of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail located in Scranton.
Thanks to the efforts of Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11), a contingent of volunteers traveled from New York City to Scranton to clean, beautify and improve the Broadway trailhead at the oldest section of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. When AXA Equitable was looking for a location for its volunteer project, Congressman Kanjorski made the company aware of LHVA and its mission, and recommended aiding with its efforts.
The day’s activities were kicked-off with a check presentation to the organization by Scranton native Christopher M. “Kip” Condron, chairman and CEO of AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company and chairman of the Financial Services Roundtable. The AXA Foundation, on behalf of AXA Equitable, supported these volunteer efforts with a $10,000 grant. Congressman Kanjorski and Scranton Mayor Christopher A. Doherty were in attendance.Read More
