Team Texas: Edwards & Spies At Monster Yamaha MotoGP In '10

Former US Superbike champion Ben Spies didn't seem to want to talk about staying in WSBK for another season after Yamaha's carefully-worded and recent release of his contract extension. A vacation in France after the ...recent WSBK round was thought to be the reason he didn't want to discuss staying in WSBK for the 2010 season.
Possible real reason: he's not going to stay in WSBK next season.
The actual wording of the recent Yamaha release was a bit ambiguous. It stated that they "(forsee) a season in 2010 with the Yamaha World Superbike" for Spies. Not exactly the most convincing verbiage for a rider possibly on the cusp of winning Yamaha's WSBK title.
It now seems very likley that James Toseland will be replaced by Ben Spies on the Monster Yamaha MotoGP team in 2010.
There are other highly charged political factors in this mix as well. Both Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi's contracts expire in 2010. Yamaha may need as many options in place as possible if either of them are lost to competitors.ENDSPost this story to: digg
