For over two weeks Lakeland Vision reached out to the community to ask a single question: "What can we do to make Lakeland the best it can be in the coming years?" From that single question came over 1000 ideas about Lakeland's future. No stone (in this case, "idea") was left unturned...

Lakeland Vision, Inc. On Sept. 16, 2008, a total of 150 high school students from all of the greater Lakeland schools will convene in one room to discuss their future vision of Lakeland. A diverse cross section of students will be selected by each school's administration. This is a restricted event.

Lakeland Vision is embarking on a new effort by asking community members to make an impact on Lakeland’s plans for the future. The goal is to create a long-term, inclusive, collaborative community vision using i...nput from our citizens. Ten years have passed since the people of Lakeland have collectively considered their vision of the future. To date, the community has addressed a majority of the strategies from the vision that it developed in 1998. Now it’s time to reach out again to refresh our plan and address new concerns.
Everyone who lives or works in the greater Lakeland area is invited to participate in one of the Idea Gathering Meetings that will take place throughout the city beginning Sept 16, 2008. Lakeland Vision is starting with a blank slate, free of any preconceived agendas, and the ideas you provide will serve as the foundation for the community’s vision. Moving forward, Lakeland Vision will bring citizens and community leaders together to use your ideas to create shared goals and strategies for the future.
