On Jan. 1 transferring between buses and trains in King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish counties will be changing. Paper transfers will be replaced with electronic transfers on ORCA cards for trips that involve transferring between agencies. Pierce Transit December is the last month you can buy a PugetPass. To purchase a monthly pass, you must have it loaded onto your ORCA card. ORCA cards are available in Adult, Youth and RRFP cards at all Pierce Transit Bus Shops. It is currently offered at no charge. On February 1, 2010 the ORCA card will cost $5, so now is the perfect time to make the switch. Beat the rush and long lines!

On Jan. 1, transit
agencies will stop accepting paper transfers from another agency. If
you use cash now, switch to ORCA and get the transfer credit for your
connecting bus or train trip. By using ORCA to pay the fare, the
transfer will be automatically calculated and valid for 2 hours on
any bus or train. Community Transit... and Sound Transit will no longer
issue paper transfers. King County Metro Transit and PT
will continue to issue paper transfers valid on their own buses. The
easiest way to travel is with an ORCA card!
