Lambda Legal Director of Constitutional Litigation Susan Sommer on our recent New York victory: "The ADF has brought four different cases in NY against four different sets of governmental defendants. Twenty judges have ruled in those cases. All 20 have ruled against the ADF and in favor of the government and married same-sex couples…the ball is now in the State Senate's court."

I work at a hospital who refuses to alllow me to cover my spouse, even though we are legally married in the state in which we live, because we are the same sex. So, Alison, I understand your feelings! Perhaps if the universal health care bill passes the Senate, employers will be forced to allow us to insure our families so they won't have to use universal health care. I hope, anyway. My spouse is a 51-year old without insurance--that's just wrong.

Thank you all for your support. Sam is right, donate to the cause. Pass it on to your friends, straight or gay. I am amazed at the support from the community. Montini wrote an excellent article in the Republic. Lambda Legal is a Godsend.

This is probably the most succinct and effective debate that I have seen from the equality side. The questions represented the most common arguments and concerns about same sex marriage. Mary Bonauto was well-prepared to address the questions with concise facts delivered in a calm and professional demeanor. Can she please come help us in Washington state? :-)
