Land Conservancy of West Michigan LCWM led two successful hikes on the Meinert Park Expansion property on October 3, 2009, despite the threat of rain. 100 elementary students and 40 high school students from Lowell Public Schools came out to the Wege Natural Area on Friday, October 10, 2009 and planted more than 800 trees. The tree planting was part of project EverGreen and was sponsored in part by Michigan Green, Dell and Lowell Public Schools. The trees were plan...ted in the area where non-native red pines were recently removed in an effort to restore the native forest system.Read More
