But the Lansing Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Gustav Mahler’s Fifth Symphony on May 2 is an event I will never forget. I first learned this symphony as a college student in 1964, studying from a recorded performance by Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic.
