Lansing Symphony Orchestra Check out Ivan Moshchuk, the 2010 Gilmore Young Artist that will be performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 with us in May!
Nineteen-year-old Ivan Moshchuk (Иван Мощук), 2010 Gilmore Young Artist, was born in Moscow, Russia and moved to Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan with his family when he was four years old. He began taking piano lessons at age 5, inspired by the piano playing of his older ...brother. In the summers of 2006 and 2008, Moshchuk attended the International Music Academy in Plzen, Czech Republic, where he had master classes with Dmitri Vorobiev, Ivan Moravec, Miroslav Brejcha, and Arthur Greene. In addition to an extensive concert schedule, he recorded for Czech National Radio. Moshchuk has appeared as soloist with the Grosse Pointe Symphony and South Carolina Philharmonic orchestras among other ensembles, making his South Carolina debut after being a co-first prize winner in the 2007 Arthur Fraser Concerto Competition. Moshchuk recently graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School and is headed to the Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University in the fall. There he will continue studying piano performance under Boris Slutsky.
