At 8:15 this morning, while sitting in a coffee shop working on reports before they started their shift, a gunman walked in, went directly to where the officers were sitting (in uniform) and opened fire. This was a deliberate violent act against these police officers. The gunman escaped.
The police have named a person of interest and are actively searching for him : They are looking for 37 year old Maurice Clemmons. Clemmons is 5'8" tall, 235 lbs. with black hair, brown eyes, and a mole on his left cheek.
He has an extensive criminal history in both Pierce County and Arkansas, including rape of a child.
HE IS CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

In an e-mail Saturday morning, Milwaukee police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said two Milwaukee officers who chased down a 26-year-old man after a robbery of a Burger King on the north side on Friday discovered that the man is a suspect in homicides that occurred in 2004 and last summer.
