This Friday, November 20, at 4 pm Explorations in Archaeology will be presenting "Forensics - It's Not C.S.I." This lecture by Sharon Parks-Mandel, the Chief Medical Investigator for the Shawnee County Coroner's Office, will cover her responsibilities and provide examples of cases she has investigated. KU Museum Studies Program Recently, the Museum Studies senior administrative associate, Sara Lundberg, completed the qualifications to become an affiliate of KU Info. KU Info representatives provide the KU community with information on KU life and available resources. Sara is now able to provide current and prospective students with answers to their questions about KU and the Museum Studies Program.

This past summer, three KU Museum Studies students (Brittany Keegan, Rachel Harris, and Terry Wickstrum) created a special exhibit for the Watkins Community Museum of History, entitled "Hidden Slaves, Hidden History." You can visit this exhibit Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm and on Thu……rsdays from 10 am to 8 pm. Over the weekend, Museum Studies’ very own Information Specialist, Travis Marvin (who keeps all the MUSE computers working), took part in an acoustic show in Overland Park, KS. Travis and his band, T-Marv & Hammer Down, “perform a mixture of country, rock, blues, and southern rock.” Sara Lundberg, MUSE administrative…… associate, was in attendance and said, “It was a really great show! Tomorrow (Fri., Oct. 9), Explorations in Archaeology will be presenting a lecture in the Big 12 Room of the Kansas Union at 4 pm. "The Good Place: Archaeology at Isle Royale National Park" will cover the site's history as both a natural park and the location of historic mining operations. As part of Saturday's Homeco……ming activities, the Natural History Museum will be having an open house and a sidewalk sale in their gift shop. Later this month, on Wed., Oct. 28 at 7 pm, they will also be providing an introduction to tapeworms, entitled "From the Vertebrate Bowels of the Earth." Chris Martin, KU grad and recent winner of an Emmy for his special effects work on the tv show "Heroes," produced two informational videos during his time in the KU film department. The two videos, "Library Revolutions" and "The Lord of the Libraries," are parodies of popular movies (The Matrix and Lord of the Rings) ……and intended to highlight the resources available from the KU Libraries.
