When will we say, 'elimination of violence against women, children, and men'? Is violence from one man to another OK, or against children?

Most of society's efforts have been directed against violence between men, and there are already substantial efforts against child abuse. But there is not nearly sufficient action to stop violence against women.

what happened was 20 years just went by and nothing has been done in Canada about children living in poverty...sad but true, I can't believe that locally the government thinks the stats have improved...such ignorance is what keeps children poor...it is a smoke screen to cover their eyes so they don't have to see, hoping others will believe their ... See Morenon truths...Poverty is just the flipside of capitalism, no one wants to see; poverty is the crowning glory of classism, no one wants to see; poverty is the underbelly of racism, no one wants to see; poverty is the stench and begotten of sexism...nobody sees....
Even when we a thousand strong or more should stand on the hill and rage against the blindness...still they look the other way...but we will become another thousand and another thousand more and soon a wave of reason will take over the hill and all will be cleansed..

So, what's your idea to end child poverty Mrs. Davies? Rather than saying how Canada has failed the child, why not come up with a program that feeds them and improves their educations? As a former foster child, I'm interested in your response. All the help that my foster care worker promised me disappeared when I got old enough to 'get it.' I was ... See Moreforced into abusive homes and treated like a criminal and a slave. I'd like to know if any of that means anything, or if you're just blowing smoke like Mr. Trudeau.

I really detest the massive waste of public funds for a sporting event.

You know, the Greeks honoured the arts as well as sports. There would be competitions in live performance and poetry. Why don't they do that any more? Now it's just sports.

Libby, the real problem with housing in Canada is that mortgage lending has artificially inflated the value of homes. Don't you find it strange that in a country that has one of the lowest population densities in the world also has some of the highest costing real estate? You must find a way to deregulate land so that more of it can be used for people.

You know, the problem is not what you think it is, and no one seems interested in solving it.

Libby let Jack know how proud we are of his principled stands for things that we really need. The EI reform is so important to so many! Thanks for that jack, for fighting for housing and health care, for standing against the war in Afghanistan and being right as usual. We know what you are doing and we are as proud of it as we were when Tommy and Ed and David were taking these stands for us.

Please find a way to count families living in tents and trailers and motels too. Children are being deprived of any kind of future because the BC Liberals do not think putting a roof over their heads matters!

I'm curious about the pros and cons of so called 'homeless counts'. They have been quite controversial here in Toronto. Anyone with any knowledge?
