Whether in the heart of New York's downtown music scene, or throughout the US, the musical roots-rock and jazz quartet Licorice is a true jam band juggernaut.

Featuring Joshua Bloom on drums and vocals, Matthew Epstein on bass, David Lott on lead vocals and guitar, and Chad Dinzes on vocals and keyboards, the Licorice sound starts in rock, funk, and reggae but always ends up somewhere in between, regularly deployed to sold-out crowds at the Blue Note, Lion's Den, Knitting Factory, and The Bitter End. Jazz legends like Larry Coryell, Mike Dillon, Adam Deitch and Roy Hargrove have all shared the stage with the up and comers. They have just finished work on their first studio EP due out in early 2008.

A Brief Synopsis

In August 2005 the band appeared in the “On The Verge” section of Relix Magazine as one of “5 artists you should know about,” and in October 2005 the band appeared as “New Groove of the Month” on Jambands.com.

2006 and 2007 were exciting years for the band with a somewhat continous stream of highlights including: An appearance on Apogee Records' live compilation, Stages 2 alongside: Green Lemon, U-Melt, The Brakes, Signal Path, Bump & Akashic Record... A 5th appearance at the Telluride Jazz Celebration, being featured in a late-night set which included special guest and multi-GRAMMY winner Roy Hargrove on Trumpet... The band's premeire performance at The Brooklyn Academy of Music... and working at Bushwick Studios on the upcoming EP release "A Million Grains of Sand" due out this April. (read less)
