I've just uploaded some photos of my studio in response to several recent queries by several friends on how I keep organized. I don't profess to be exceptionally disciplined when it comes to organizing, I, like many of my artistic friends tend to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Things tend to get cluttered so... I occasionally buckle down and tidy up. The unfortunate thing about this is that I have trouble locating things for a while after getting "organized."
I've posted an album of photos of my studio. Plus you can see a live video tour from HGTV's Carol Duvall Show by clicking the attached link.
I find it helps to sort mediums by category (such as polymer/metal clays, crystals, wire, tools, beads, fibers, etc.) and store them in the same place. I am often asked what type of storage solutions I use. It's really a conglomeration of whatever I can find with lots of drawers and cubbies. I love the inexpensive plastic drawers and storage towers found at most discount stores. I also have some great towers from Ikea for my stamps that alas are no longer available. Another favorite is hardware towers and fishing tackle boxes. These are especially great for those of you without a dedicated work space or for when you wish to take your work on the go.Read More
