Liss Fain Dance LFD will be performing at this year's West Wave Dance Festival 2008. This year's festival will be held at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum. LFD performs at 9pm on Wed. Aug 20; and again at 7pm on Thur. Aug 21. Tickets for the festival can be purchased online through the YBCA box office at www.ybca.org

Liss Fain Dance
LFD begins their 2008 Tour of Poland with a performance at the International Contemporary Dance Festival in Bytom on July 4. From there, the company travels to Ladek Zdroj for a performance at the International Dance Festival Ladek Ballet Summer on July 6. The company moves to Lublin for performances and workshops on July 9-10, as part of the International Dance Theaters Festival and the Contemporary Dance Forum.
Liss Fain Dance is honored to conclude the 2008 Tour to Poland with a command performance at The Theater on Water in Warsaw's elegant Lazienki Park on July 11th. On July 12th, LFD holds workshops and choreography lab's with the students of the Warsaw Ballet and the Center for Contemporary Dance. Sign-up for newsletters and eblasts at lissfaindance.org

Liss Fain Dance Looking Looking, to Bartok’s Concerto for Viola, will premiere on September 11, 12 & 13, 2008 at the company’s home season at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. The piece is inspired by two, very different experiences: the company’s September 2007 tour of Eastern Europe and the deep emotionality and melancholy-infused wit I experienced in the work I saw and the people I met there. Reminders of the past are ever-present---the sophisticated artistic and intellectual achievements manifested in the architecture and the love of the arts contrasted by the horrific devastations of WWII and the bleakness of Communism. And my personal, majestically peaceful experience of walking, in Cambodia, at the Bayan of Angkor Thom, among the enormous, stone heads of the Buddha carved into each side of every tower of the ancient temple. The piece is about the endurance of beauty despite the passage of time and vicissitudes of history.
