Liu Fang "Songs from the Other Side of the Border " (classical tradition). This piece, in the typical lyrical style of the traditional pipa repertoire, is said to represent the sorrowful song of the Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) noblewoman, the famous beauty, Wang Zhaojun, who had to marry a barbarian prince for political reaso...n, sacrificing herself to the oppressor to save her country. This melancholic melody reflects her nostalgia and her longing for her home country.
