An Afternoon with… Duncan McKenzie
Liverpool Central Library (Hornby Room), Thursday 29th October at 2pm
Duncan McKenzie is an Everton legend!
After signing for the club in 1976, he immediately won over the Goodison faithful with performances rich in skill and entertainment.
In total, McKenzie made 61 appearances for Ev...erton, scoring 21 goals. Before leaving the club in 1978, he produced some memorable displays, one notable game being the 1977 FA Cup Semi-Final against Liverpool.
Duncan McKenzie is still very popular with Evertonians…and football fans in general. His stories of jumping over minis and throwing golf balls the length of a football pitch have gone down in history and are often recounted in his new career as an after-dinner speaker!
On Thursday 29th October, McKenzie will be talking about his Everton days at Liverpool Central Library to coincide with The Everton Collection exhibition. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and found out just how he managed to jump over that mini!
The event is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are now available from the Library’s Central Lending Help Desk (Second Floor) or by ringing the ticket hotline on 0151 233 5829.

To coincide with the opening of the EVERLUTION exhibition in the Picton Library and the launch of the Everton Collection website there will be a series of talks about the history of Everton FC in the Hornby Library .
The first two talks will be held in September
Monday 28th September - Joint Match Programmes
Incredibly, ...only 12 years after the acrimonious split of 1892 when Liverpool emerged out of Everton, the two clubs began publication of joint match programmes. From 1904 until 1935 more than 1,100 were produced. They contained not only team line-ups but also news of important off-the- pitch developments at both clubs and in the country more widely.
Wednesday 30th September - St Domingo’s and the Birth of Everton FC
The role of St Domingo Chapel in the creation of Everton was crucial but little is known about the personalities involved. Meet some of these early pioneers, including the Rev. Ben Chambers, whose grave in Yorkshire was recently restored and rededicated by Everton and Liverpool and who was inducted this year into the Gwladys Street Hall of Fame.
The talks will be given by football writer Peter Lupson, author of “Across the Park” and “Thank God for Football”
Not only will these talks be of interest to Everton and Liverpool fans because of the two clubs joint history, but also to anyone interested in football in general and Liverpool history. There will also be an opportunity to buy signed copies of Peter Lupson’s books.

Paul Quintal I think this new format is rather spiffing. Interaction good and proper.
