Our evening will start with drinks at 6pm and a viewing of the books. The auction will take place at 6.45pm and it will be possible to recharge your glasses throughout the evening!
It will be possible to bid for the books online- the list will be emailled out at the end of OCTOBER.
If you registered last year to receive... email updates of the booklists and bids, you don't need to do anything.
If you didn't, you can register by emailling petriebooks@ijnet.demon.co.uk
If you would like a hard copy of the book lists, contact Jan (see below)
The auction will run online as in previous years, and culminate in the live auction on the 14th December, so that as many people as want to can participate.
If you have any books that you would like to donate, drop them into the museum at any time or contact Jan (see below)
This is always an enjoyable event, and all proceeds go to the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology.

Sometimes known as the ‘Father of British Racism’, Robert Knox was fascinated by what the statuary art of Ancient Egypt said about race and civilisation. Shomarka Keita will speak about the history of ideas about the origins, or rather the history of comments on ‘race’ and the Egyptians. He will draw on some of Flinders Petrie's interesting ideas as will as talking about the uses of multiple sources in historical anthropology and comment on more recent work around the s...ubject.
Dr Shomarka Keita is a physician and anthropologist, affiliated with Howard University and the Smithsonian Institution, USA. His work is rooted in an evolutionary biogeographical perspective and he has made crucial points regarding biological anthropology and ancient Egypt.
