Found Spaces Drawing Workshop

In this 2-part workshop, participants will create a multi-layered artwork that combines photography, collage, and contour drawing. The intensive project will allow participants to create dy...namic compositions with a balanced sense of space. Using the style of found abstraction, participants will create an abstract landscape on vellum constructed from found images. Instruction will focus on creating movement and rhythm through mark-making and positive and negative space.
This workshop is in conjunction with the Sweet Subversives: Contemporary California Drawing exhibition and is recommended for beginning and intermediate artists.
Paper and drawing supplies are included. Participants are encouraged to bring the following supplies to add a personal narrative to their artworks:
-Drawing materials of your choice.
-Camera for taking additional pictures on the grounds.
-Additional images already printed (8”x10”, black and white).

In these FREE drop-in workshops, adults and children will work together to create artworks inspired by art on display in the Museum. Workshops are typically offered on ...the third Sunday of each month.

January 17: Animal Habitat Drawings
Fantasy and reality come together as participants create drawings inspired by Adonna Khare's Elephant, Lion, and Buffalo. Using charcoal pencils, families will learn to use value, shape, and space to draw mythical creatures in their "natural" habitats.

Silverpoint
Snowflake...s - Inspired by winter and several drawings in the Sweet Subversives: Contemporary California
Drawings, participants will create the snowflakes using real silver. Learn this age old tradition of mark-making
but with an abstract seasonal twist.
Compositions will focus on repetition, pattern, and geometric shape.
