Artie Langston

Artie Langston Dick Johnson, a great guy who was the drummer in the Dukes Of Dixieland with me back in 1974 said he once heard Lord Buckley telling a bedtime story to Brother Dave Gardner's kids. If only we had a recording of it!

Lord Buckley "I went out looking for God the other day and I couldn't pin him. So I figured that if I couldn't find him I'd look for his stash, his great lick of love that holds the whole world in gear."

Lord Buckley "The truth is strange to the ears, even wild truth, things that happen, they supercede and carry on beyond the parallel of your practiced credulity."

Oliver Trager

Oliver Trager A half-hour documentary about hipster comedian Lord Buckley airs in Los Angeles on Tuesday 12/29 at 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Tune in to KCRW/89.9 FM or kcrw.com. Veteran NYC radio cat Jon Kalish produced "Too Smart for the Room: The Lord Buckley Story" with his radio partner Marty Goldensohn.

Lord Buckley was a hipster c...omedian in the 1950's who influenced many of America's comedic giants. His "hip semantic" renditions of such literary classics as "The Raven" and "The Gettysburg Address" delighted audiences, but Buckley caught flack for performing them in an African-American dialect. This half-hour program includes rare archival recordings of Buckley performing, and interviews with Jonathan Winters and Larry Storch, plus sound of a Buckley appearance on Groucho Marx's quiz show.

Please alert friends and family in the L.A. area who might dig His Lordship...
