Friends and family celebrated the life of actress Farrah Fawcett at a private funeral service today at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

Ms. Fawcett, loved by many in "Charlie's Angel's", passed away last week after a long battle with cancer. She bravely documented her battle with the disease in "Farrah's Sto...ry," which aired last month on NBC. Our thoughts and Prayers are with her family and friends.Read More

In an annual gathering of Catholic parish and school
choirs, more than two hundred young singers, ages
8-18, will participate in a special Mass at the Cathedral
of Our Lady of the Angels, Friday, May 8th.
Monsignor Kevin Kostelnik will preside.

Evoking the sound of great European cathedral
music, the choristers will sing as ...one large combined
choir, presenting music spanning 1,500 years-from
Gregorian chant to masterworks of the Twentieth
Century. The Mass will be conducted by Michael
Wustrow, Music Director at St. Agnes Cathedral,
Rockville Centre, New York.

The Festival and Mass are sponsored by the American
Federation Pueri Cantores, the national student
choral organization of the Catholic Church. Internationally,
Pueri Cantores is headquartered at the
Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in The Vatican.

It is active in thirty countries and involves 60,000
singers. In the United States, regional Festivals and
Masses are organized in cathedrals and other large
churches to encourage the inclusion of great liturgical
music in worship, to help instill in the singers
and their families a broader understanding of the
Church, and to build a deeper faith in God which
can be carried throughout their lives.

The Festival begins at 4:45 pm and the Mass will
follow at 5:30 pm. The public is cordially invited to
attend. Guests should arrive early to allow time for
seating.

This exhibition presents the process of creation from proposal to installation of the tapestries for the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles, designed by artist John Nava. Showcased are the conceptual drawings, oil studies, digital images and weaving tests, which were produced in 22 months by the creative fusing of aesthetics, craft and modern computer and weaving technology by the artist. This visual story is unique for many reasons, one of them having to do with meeting the deadline for the opening of the cathedral in September 2002. This exhibition speaks specifically to the creative process of art making at the beginning of the 21st century.
