LMU Yoga Studies
At its core, yoga is a vast psychological system built to harness the nature of the mind, emotions and the encasement of the physical body to actualize one’s fullest potential. While the external poses are often emphasized in the West, yoga’s inner science of self-inquiry, mental dexterity and emotional freedom offers ...modern psychology a crucial map integrating all layers of self. The foundation of this course is two-fold – fusing the basic architecture of the mind and mental processes as detailed in the Yoga Sutras (from sense-perception to self-consciousness to pure awareness) with the bodily application of the Chakra System and its corresponding map of how consciousness develops through one’s lifecycle. Focus will be on practical techniques and lifestyle considerations to anchor theory in an effective daily practice, including how to translate abstract concepts for the modern student. Emphasis on yoga’s Depth Psychological traditions of image, sound, archetypal myth and meditation will also be covered.
