Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust

Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust On January 25, 2008, Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust celebrated its ceremonial Groundbreaking for our new permanent home in Pan Pacific Park. Executive Director Mark Rothman, President E. Randol Schoenberg, and Board Member Jona Goldrich spoke as well as the following dignitaries: Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa; City A...ttorney Rocky Delgadillo; City Council President Eric Garcetti; California Assemblyman Mike Feuer; and City Councilmember Tom LaBonge. Former Board President Gary J. Schiller, M.D. led a Bell Ringing ceremony in which Museum Founders each rang a bell representing the millions of victims of the Holocaust, Jewish and non-Jewish. Honored Guests, including 10 Consul Generals from European countries and Israel stood behind the Bell Ringers, showing their solidarity in commemorating the terrible events of the Holocaust. Acclaimed architect Hagy Belzberg presented the model and images of the impressive design for the new building.

Construction is expected to finish in spring, 2010.
