: Been there, was doing that in High School. Space-spawned pandemic, fatal to many but debilitating to nearly everybody, and the plight of one of the few healthy-and-invulnerable survivors. When the foreward of "Burning Chrome" mentioned an ultimate boredom with apocalyptic visions in cyberpunk, I took it as a sign to drop the idea and move on.

SciFi An in-depth look at The Road.

I haven't read the book, I haven't seen the film. I feel like I should, but then life is bleak enough already... I like my art with a little more colour, rather than a soundtrack to commit suicide to.

SciFi Scifi writer Jim C Hines (author of The Mermaid’s Madness) waxes lyrical about why books aren't his babies.

Well, they don't cry at night so much for starters...

From time to time, you come across authors talking about how their books are their babies. I’ve been thinking about the release of The Mermaid’s Madness [Amazon | Mysterious Galaxy], and decided to see how well the analogy holds up.

Where're the dudes from Night of the Comet? Also the father in Ark II could be impressive. Of course, it's been 20 years (or so) since I've seen either.

After all the complaints I've seen lately about shows being made that are too raunchy for kids and too insulting for adult audiences--and too Japanese for foreign markets--this is no surprise. Add to the fact that cel animation is becoming a lost art because of the advances in computer animation, and this will be the end of an era.

The last two and a half episodes have saved Flash Forward from my personal cut list, but it still has flaws (I don't care how popular Texas Hold'em is!). If Goyer is taking a more direct hand, though, I am very interested in its future. The show was always envisioned as multi-season, despite the obvious self-imposed time constraint and I've been interested to see how Goyer and Guggenheim planned to tie multiple seasons together without boring us to death.
