If you’re new in town, you might not know about Louis Armstrong. He was a life-size statue on the stage in Old Town Square. Rocked off his foundation, he disappeared one night in 2001.

Douglas A Beard It strikes me as almost funny, that I moved as far away as possible in the contingent US to be checking in on this site. Fort Collins will always be my home, and God do I miss parts of it. I am so glad that there is this site that I can visit and reset myself, in Miami. Really quite different to say the least.

I've been amazed at the number of ex patriots that have found Lost Fort Collins. Several of them are involved in a conversation under the 11 Lost Fort Collins topic. I like that they have this frozen memory of the town, and sometimes remember the past better than those who have lived here all along.

LostFortCollins New on Lost Fort Collins:

My long-lost friend Ute came to visit today, and caught this while we were dining downtown. Ute said I could use her photo, but not say the name of the restaurant because that’s unkind to the business.

Pictures of the signatures inside the old FCHS Tower. Photos taken during the renovation in 2007 - the signatures remain intact.

I didn’t really connect with Roy until right before he died. He was my third dog. He stole food. He bit. He tore up the house. He tugged on the leash. He fought. He threw up in the car.

LostFortCollins New post: The Armstrong Hotel has created a nice souvenir map of Lost Fort Collins' Neighborhood markets, plus ghost signs! Here's how to get yours...

I have had SUCH a hard time keeping this quiet–didn’t want to say anything until it was done. But I’ve known for several weeks that the Armstrong Hotel was making a nicesouvenirmap out of the neighborhood markets tour that the Lost Fort Collins blog published a while back.

We went to an estate sale and in the garage was a sign that said "All Coffee Cans $1.00 each!!!". This was at the bottom of the one I bought, under bolts and screws.

LostFortCollins Tomorrow night, County Commissioners are meeting to discuss changing land use code so large projects that go through Larimer County (like the Greeley Pipeline) need permits from Larimer County. This would go a long way in helping protect historic resources from destruction by outside entities. But they need you to show... up and show you care. Greeley know that and is likely to show up in force. Read more on Lost Fort Collins...

LostFortCollins New edition of Ask Uncle Norm on the Lost Fort Collins blog.

One hamburger joint Norm may remember: Morrie’s “In and Out” on South College. It was a little before my time but I know it was popular with a lot of FCHS students because it was relatively close to the old high school building on Remington.” Jim Burrill

Was this the origin of In and Out Burger?

I don't think so. In fact, I was wrong to add Burger to the title. It was called In and Out Drive Thru.

LostFortCollins Before the Armadillo, it was Oakes Motor Company. Ted Oakes, son of the man who built the dealership, died last week just after he gave this photo to Norm.

I don't remember the sandwiches -- that was the first bar we went into when we turned 18 because they served 3.2 beer!

Norm says he remembers that too. Says it was owned by two brother-in-laws. And they also owned the SirS...a sandwich/drinking place over by the College.

Look to the Northwest and see what’s left of the Strauss cabin. One of the earliest cabins in the area, restored in the 1990s, and then burned down by some teenagers soon after.
