Kentucky Derby Museum Demolition begins today as we announce our renovation project.

The museum is very excited to share with you the news that we are renovating! An August flood destroyed many of our exhibits on the first floor and devastated the lower level offices, artifact storage areas and museum archives. We’ve faced the adversity head on and we’re now looking forward to a brighter future.
The Ken...tucky Derby Museum will re-open on Sunday, April 18, 2010 with new exhibits, more interactive experiences and a fresh mission of sharing the FUN of the Kentucky Derby experience. Read more about it here : http://www.derbymuseum.org/news/?p=175Read More

It looks like a horse lover's fantasy flea market. On long rows of folding tables in the Kentucky Derby Museum basement, items rescued during last week's flooding represent not only a large chunk of Derby history, but also the story of a determined group of museum employees' efforts to save it.

Wow, what a story. We are planning a trip to Louisville in mid Sept and had hoped to come to the Museum so we are very disappointed. But we are glad that you were able to save so many artifacts. Has a fund been set up to help with cost?

Cindy, visit our homepage at www.derbymuseum.org. There are pictures, blog postings and video along with a link about how you can help. We welcome donations because insurance is certainly not going to cover all the damages that we've incurred. We hope to bring the museum back even better than before.
