Cindy Crawford You may want to assure everyone that the sewer spill will not affect LWC's treatment process. It was downstream of where we pull water from the river right?

You are absolutely right. The spill was down river and has no impact on our community's drinking water. Thanks for the post!

Bryan Thompson I was wondering if you could tell me what your water hardness measurments are?

Louisville Water Company
Water hardness is defined as the combination of calcium, magnesium, zinc and other minerals in the water. If these minerals are present in your water in substantial amounts, the water is said to be hard because making a lather or suds for washing is hard (difficult) to do. Water containing little minerals is said to be soft water. Our Crescent ... See MoreHill Filter Plant delivers a significant portion of treated water within Jefferson County, and the annual average hardness is equal to ~ 150 mg/L. LWC’s water is considered “moderately hard”.

Benefits of water hardness include the layer of mineral deposits that build up within pipes and plumbing materials that is called scale. This serves as a protective layer between the pipe and the water to make sure that nothing leaches from the plumbing into the water. Often, appliances come with instructions that are based on the “hardness” of the water in either mg/L or grains/gallon. As mentioned previously, the average water hardness is 150 mg/L, which is also equal to ~ 8.8 grains/gallon.
