There was a time when mix tapes were the people's art form, an avenue of expression available to anyone with a Sanyo tape deck and a fistful of Maxell XLII-90s.
The Kin Ship
The Kin Ship gallery is excited to be hosting our third show, a celebration of the mix tape!
Nowadays music can be shared with the click of the mouse, but we at The Kin Ship are celebrating the days of a more personal way of sharing music. Sitting by the cassette player, hitting pause at just the right moment, stressing... out over the order of the songs, and getting out the scissors and glue stick to make the liner notes.
To celebrate the forgotten art of the mix tape, we chose thirteen folks to create mixes & design art to go with em.
The Mix Tape Art Show will be in the gallery from October 2nd - 25th. Featuring mixes and original artwork by:
* John Clark
* CSDIV
* Tracy Heightchew & Neal Argabright
* Mperfect
* Kaptain Molasses
* Carrie Neumayer
* Raw Thug
* Nathaniel Russell
* Nathan Salsburg & Thea Lura
* Natalie Sud
* Brent Woosley
The opening reception will be Friday, October 2nd, from 7-10pm.
With record playin by Kaptain Molasses & Root Hog or Die.
