The most beautiful objects in the world are paintings,
and the most beautiful subjects should be painted.
This is why I paint.
Few things give a person more dignity than a well-painted portrait,
This is also why I paint.

I believe in the "masterpiece" - that it is not an unattainable dream of the past. I consider painting to be a craft - a practice. So, I seek to emulate what has been done before me and practice that which is earnest, sentimental, and epic.

I am an apprentice, and I will be for some time.
