I am using Photomatrix and Nikon Capture NX2 on Snow Leopard. O.K., I got caught in the cross fire, NX2 doesn't work properly with SL. You recommend saving the images in 16 bit TIFF with NX2 (neutral contrast) before import to
Photomatrix. As I can't do that right now, what would be the setting with Aperture 2 ? Or, is saving the neutral NEF images from NX2 still good?

If you run the Capture NX2 uninstaller and then install 2.2.0, you should be OK getting it to work.

That fixed it! (I was told on the Nikonians that an NX2 fix would be required from Nikon for Snow Leopard.) Back in business. Thanks for your help.

No question there are going to be glitches with every new OS release. And yes, 10.6 dropped a few weeks early. But I guess my grievance is that Nikon's public policy is "we need to evaluate the real thing for at least 30 days"-- as if they couldn't have already done most of that evaluation with the beta/developer releases of 10.6. True, they ... Read Morewould not want to release a patch based only on developer releases of an OS, but certainly they should be able to speed up their patch/update cycle because of the access to the developer releases. NX 2.2.2 brought "official" support to Mac OS 10.5.7-- which wasn't even the current version of Leopard when the update came out-- 10.5.8 was.

I would agree that the public stance is not helpful and a bit awkward sounding like they were caught of guard; but, having worked with many Japanese companies, I saw that as just a "form" letter type of approach.

It is possible that they were fully tested on NX 2 proper, but didn't think to test the NEF security app that goes with it until 10.6 released and it didn't work properly.
