On Friday, July 24th, 2009, Ashley VanWingerden, the 11 year-old daughter of Jake and Wendy VanWingerden one of MARKINC's fans was ushered into Heaven following a tragic boating accident.

I think the email only made me more excited to know more about the event! Anyone else feel the same way? The MARKINC Ministries team is delighted to officially launch our Spring Gala Event! At this almost black tie affair, we will enjoy the music of Mark Shultz, one of Christian music’s core artists. After the concert, guests will be delighted with an almost magical atmosphere surrounding the many delicious dessert choi...ces and opportunities to connect with friends.
But that’s not all! In this setting that is far more intimate than a large concert arena, we expect Mark to share some of his seven chart-topping hits. He recently earned the Number 1 spot on Billboard magazine’s Hot Christian Adult Contemporary Songwriters list. His song Back in His Arms Again was named BMI's Christian Song of the Year in 2003. We have asked Mark to perform Letters from War, a song was selected as the centerpiece of the U.S. Army's 2004 Be Safe-Make It Home campaign. His music is a perfect fit to help us raise funds to produce and distribute resources designed to offer help and hope to hurting people, including our brand new Coming Home from War project.
